Border 2 Song Launch at Longewala: When Bollywood Met the Real Heroes

Bollywood witnessed a powerful blend of patriotism, nostalgia, and emotion as Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan joined BSF and Indian Army personnel for the grand song launch of ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ from the upcoming war drama Border 2. The event took place at the historic Longewala–Tanot region in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, a location deeply rooted in India’s military history.

Also present at the event were Ahan Shetty, legendary singer Sonu Nigam, and members of the film’s cast and crew. Set against the backdrop of the Tanot Mata Temple amphitheatre, the evening turned into an unforgettable homage to India’s armed forces.

‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’: A Song That Echoes Emotion & Sacrifice

The song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ is a soulful remake of the iconic track from J.P. Dutta’s 1997 classic Border. Known for its emotional depth, the song once again captures the pain of separation, the hope of return, and the silent sacrifices made by soldiers and their families.

As the song played under the desert sky, surrounded by real-life heroes in uniform, the moment struck a deep emotional chord—not just for the audience, but also for the actors themselves.

Stars in Uniform, Hearts Full of Pride

For the special occasion, Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan donned camouflage uniforms, symbolising their on-screen roles as soldiers. Ahan Shetty, who also plays a key role in the film, opted for a classic brown blazer, adding to the dignified atmosphere of the event.

The presence of BSF and Indian Army personnel elevated the launch beyond a film promotion—it became a heartfelt salute to the nation’s defenders.

Varun Dhawan: ‘Border Shaped How We See the Armed Forces’

Speaking at the event, Varun Dhawan shared how deeply the original Border impacted him while growing up.

“After watching Border, I always wished to portray a character connected to the armed forces. The courage and emotional strength shown in that film entered the hearts of the people. It all happened because of Sunny Deol and Border. I never imagined I would one day be a part of its sequel.”

Varun’s words reflected the generational impact of the 1997 film and how Border 2 carries that legacy forward for today’s audience.

Sunny Deol Gets Emotional Remembering Dharmendra

One of the most touching moments of the evening came when Sunny Deol became emotional while remembering his father, legendary actor Dharmendra.

Addressing the soldiers, Sunny revealed:

“I did Border after watching my father’s film Haqeeqat. I loved it deeply as a child. Later, I spoke to JP Dutta sahab, and we decided to make a film on the Battle of Longewala—a subject very close to your hearts.”

He further shared how Border unknowingly inspired countless youngsters to join the Indian Army.

“Wherever I go, soldiers tell me they decided to join the Army after watching Border. I never imagined a film could give so much confidence to the youth of our country.”

The moment was met with loud applause and visible emotion among the soldiers present.
