Avengers: Doomsday Teaser Introduces X-Men to the MCU | Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops

Marvel Studios has officially opened the door for the X-Men to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a new teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, confirming the return of Professor X, Magneto and Cyclops. The latest preview marks the third teaser released for the film and shifts the spotlight entirely onto the iconic mutant team.
The teaser opens with a haunting look at the Xavier Institute, now abandoned and stripped of its former life. Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier is seen inside the mansion alongside Ian McKellen’s Magneto, the two longtime rivals seated at a chessboard in a visual callback to their earlier film appearances. The atmosphere is somber, underscored by Xavier’s reflective narration about mortality and identity.
A dramatic shift follows as James Marsden’s Cyclops makes a brief but powerful appearance on a battlefield, seemingly fighting Sentinels. Removing his visor, he unleashes a full-force optic blast, delivering a moment that has already sparked excitement among fans. The teaser concludes with a title card that reads, “The X-Men will return,” officially confirming their role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel has been gradually reintroducing legacy X-Men characters since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, beginning with Patrick Stewart’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and continuing through The Marvels and Deadpool & Wolverine. Avengers: Doomsday represents the most significant step yet in merging the original X-Men cast with the MCU.
In addition to Professor X, Magneto and Cyclops, Marvel has confirmed that Alan Cumming will return as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Kelsey Grammer as Beast and Channing Tatum as Gambit. It remains unclear whether other familiar characters such as Wolverine, Storm or Jean Grey will appear.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is positioned as a massive crossover event that brings together Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four characters in a single storyline. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 18, 2026.
